I am writing to express my outrage at this Republican administration’s abrupt abandonment of our long-time allies worldwide, and siding with Russia and Vladimir Putin. Rather than putting ‘America first,’ as this administration claims to do, its recent actions clearly put Russia first. Our new Attorney General ordered the Justice Department to end Task Force KleptoCapture, established to seize assets of Russian oligarchs in order to help pay for Ukraine’s defense against Russian invaders. Our new (unqualified) Secretary of Defense ordered the U.S. Cyber Command to “stand down” on all operations concerning Russia, raising grave national security concerns. Our new Secretary of Department of Homeland Security ordered DHS’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to cease monitoring and countering Russian cyberthreats. Our Republican president used Russian-disinformation talking points to betray our allies Ukraine and NATO, siding wholeheartedly with our enemy Russia and its expansionist regime. In the Oval Office. The same Russia that paid the Taliban bounties to kill our soldiers in Afghanistan. Have we surrendered to our greatest enemy? I come from a family with deep military roots, with multiple family members in National Cemeteries. The President and this Republican administration’s actions are an insult to my family’s sacrifices. As is your silence on this. Silence now is complicity. Complicity is betrayal. Betrayal of our country, our ideals and the oath you swore to the Constitution. What actions are you taking to combat this betrayal? Do you stand with the United States or with Russia? My family and I call on you in the strongest terms to stand up against this capitulation to Russia and betrayal of our allies.
