Investigate and Prosecute DOGE's Theft of Social Security Data

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Elfreth, Sen. Alsobrooks

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

October 31

Investigate and prosecute Elon Musk, DOGE personnel, and the Trump administration officials responsible for copying the Social Security Administration's NUMIDENT database, containing names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, citizenship status, and parents' names for hundreds of millions of Americans, onto unsecured third-party servers outside federal control. This is not a bureaucratic dispute. A January 2026 DOJ court filing confirmed that DOGE staff used unauthorized servers, including Cloudflare, in violation of SSA security protocols. The same filing revealed that a DOGE employee, acting in his official SSA capacity, secretly signed a "Voter Data Agreement" with a political advocacy group seeking to overturn election results in certain states. SSA leadership was kept in the dark. Hatch Act referrals followed. Whistleblower Chuck Borges raised the alarm, filed a protected disclosure, and was pushed out of his career for it. The administration denied the problems until court pressure forced partial admissions. No meaningful legal or financial consequences have followed for any of this. The public still has no clear answer about where that data went or whether it remains outside federal control. That is unacceptable. Pursue full prosecution, and ensure that every official, from DOGE staff to administration leadership, faces personal legal and financial liability for what the record shows they did.
