Impeach President for Unconstitutional Military Action That Killed 165 Children

To: Sen. Alsobrooks, Sen. Van Hollen, Rep. Elfreth

From: A verified voter in Arnold, MD

March 3

I am writing to demand that you initiate impeachment proceedings and pursue criminal accountability for the sitting president following military actions that resulted in the deaths of at least 165 children at an elementary school in a U.S.-Israeli strike. This attack represents a clear violation of constitutional war powers and international humanitarian law. The president has engaged in military operations against Iran without congressional authorization, circumventing the constitutional requirement that Congress alone holds the power to declare war. This unauthorized military escalation has already cost the lives of four American service members and prompted the administration to issue evacuation notices for Americans across 16 Middle East countries. The American people did not consent to this war, and our representatives have not voted to authorize it. The strike that killed 165 children at an elementary school constitutes a war crime under international law and a profound moral failure. These were not combatants but children in a place of learning. No military objective justifies this loss of innocent life, and the president's decision to order or approve such an operation demonstrates a reckless disregard for human life and the rule of law. The Constitution provides impeachment as the remedy for high crimes and misdemeanors. Unauthorized warfare that results in mass civilian casualties, particularly the deaths of children, meets this threshold. Beyond impeachment, criminal accountability must follow for violations of both domestic and international law. I urge you to immediately introduce articles of impeachment, call for congressional hearings to investigate these military actions, and work with the Department of Justice to pursue criminal charges. The president must be held accountable for these unconstitutional acts and the devastating human cost they have inflicted. Our democracy and our standing in the world depend on your willingness to act.
