Does Trump have to follow the constitution? we need your public answer!

To: Sen. Ernst, Rep. Nunn, Sen. Grassley

From: A constituent in Des Moines, IA

May 6

As your constituent, I am writing to demand your public response to a matter of the highest urgency. Donald Trump recently made clear his view that a president’s duty to the Constitution is conditional, optional, or secondary to personal power. This is not a casual remark—it is a statement of intent, and it is a direct threat to the foundation of American democracy. You took an oath to uphold the Constitution. So did every president. The idea that Trump—should he return to office—could act outside, above, or in defiance of the Constitution is not just hypothetical. He has said as much, openly and repeatedly. That leads to one simple question I need you to answer: Do you believe that Donald Trump is obligated to follow the Constitution of the United States, without exception or condition—yes or no? And further: Will you make a public statement to that effect, and will you demand that he commit to obeying the Constitution in full—because you know what is right? Silence on this issue is complicity. If you dodge this question, your constituents will take notice. If you do not speak out, it will be assumed that you are willing to stand by while the foundations of this republic are subverted for political gain. I am asking you directly: Will you uphold your oath and speak out, or will you stand by while Trump tears it up?
