In case anyone needs verification of just how slimy politics is… A number of survivors of Jeffrey Epstein released a statement Tuesday condemning two Republican senators who they say refused to meet with them before caving to Donald Trump’s attorney general pick. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis announced Monday they would clear the way for Trump’s AG nominee Todd Blanche. Ahead of Blanche’s confirmation vote on Tuesday, Epstein survivors said Tillis promised to meet with them over their concerns about Blanche, only to be turned away after waiting nearly an hour.  “Senator Tillis publicly invited us, on camera, to come to his office and promised to meet with us,” the statement said. “We did. We waited for 45 minutes in his lobby, only to be told by a staffer that he would not meet with us after all. Senator Cornyn also refused to hear directly from survivors before casting his vote.” The survivors had planned to talk to the senators about Blanche’s treatment of them. “When we met with Todd Blanche, he interrupted us,” the statement said. “He told us to ‘get to the point.’ He told us to report what happened to us to the FBI. We already have. Some of us have been reporting these crimes for decades. This was a check-the-box meeting designed to secure Senator Tillis’ vote.” Instead, they said they were ignored by Tillis and Cornyn. “The message was unmistakable: they wanted us to go away.” So the next time Republican senators tell us how they want justice for Epstein victims they should be reminded they are just part of the continuing cover-up. And their goals are always anything but justice for victims. Their words are lies. We see them. And they are not the good guys.
