Thank you for the work you're doing to represent me, your constituent, in Congress. I'm writing because I'm deeply concerned about the rise of authoritarianism in my country. The Supreme Court says one thing, but is systematically giving the president everything he wants, rolling back the lines in the sand that our federal judges have had the integrity to draw. They say the courts are our last line of defense. But in present circumstances, they are no defense at all. Meanwhile major institutions, from Columbia U to ABC, are complying in advance. I urge you to act. I know your power is limited. But I also know there are ways to slow this machine down, and there is a lack of vision on the left that desperately needs to be filled. I am distressed at the watery efforts made to this point. You hold levers of power and influence: I beg you to use them. Strategy, communications, vision, leadership. Please be worthy of the position you hold, and do absolutely everything you can to stem this tide. It is down to you. I pray you have strength and integrity.
