War with Iran Makes It Clear: We Need to Break Up with Fossil Fuels

The Iran war has triggered what the International Energy Agency calls the worst oil crisis in history. I need you to prioritize legislation that accelerates our transition to clean energy and reduces our dependence on fossil fuels.
Strikes on Iran have disrupted the Strait of Hormuz, a chokepoint for 20% of global oil. Attacks on fossil fuel facilities by the US, Israel, and Iran have created severe market volatility. This crisis proves we cannot afford to remain dependent on oil and gas from unstable regions.
Regions with strong wind and solar infrastructure are insulated from this fuel crisis right now. Once renewable infrastructure is built, the fuel is free. That means no price shocks, no supply disruptions, and no vulnerability to foreign conflicts. We need that same protection.
This is a national security issue as much as a climate issue. Support clean energy funding, expedite renewable project permits, and oppose any new fossil fuel subsidies. The current crisis makes the case as well as any climate report ever could.
