Stop the rate increase on Nevadans and investigate NV Energy practices further

To: Gov. Lombardo, Assembly Member Kasama, Sen. Dondero Loop

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

January 27

NV Energy is gearing up to inflict a 'daily demand charge' starting in April. They want to do this after being exposed for and acknowledging overcharging customers approximately $65 million for decades. It sure does seem as if they either can't manage their operations or purposely gouge the public and then get caught. According to an article by the Nevada Current, "NV Energy’s bid to calculate customers’ bills based on their highest usage of the day rather than total consumption could add between $20 to $38 to the average monthly bill for customers in Southern Nevada, and penalize energy-efficient users, according to a trade organization that represents renewable energy interests." Please reach out to and work with the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada to stop the rate increase on Nevadans and investigate NV Energy practices further. Lawmakers need to do more to control the negative impact of utility monopolies in our state now. Thank you.
