I am writing as your constituent to express my strong opposition to the recently announced $1.776 billion "Anti-Weaponization Fund" established by the Department of Justice. I urge you to use every legislative and oversight tool at your disposal to block the implementation of this fund.
The creation of this fund is a blatant misuse of taxpayer money. Far from redressing "weaponization," this fund appears to be a partisan slush fund designed to reward political allies.
My concerns are rooted in the following:
•Lack of DOJ Impartiality: The current DOJ has repeatedly demonstrated poor judgment and a clear bias toward the President’s personal and political agenda. It has ceased to act as an independent protector of The People and has instead become an instrument of the executive branch.
•Tainted Oversight: It is inappropriate for a compromised DOJ to appoint the five-member committee responsible for distributing these massive sums. A committee hand-picked by a biased agency cannot be expected to provide fair or neutral oversight.
•Political Interference: Under the current structure, the President retains the power to remove these committee members for any reason. This eliminates any semblance of independence and ensures that the fund will serve the President's interests rather than the rule of law.
Allowing a tainted DOJ to self-police nearly $2 billion in public funds is an affront to our democratic institutions. This fund sets a dangerous precedent for "lawfare" and government-sanctioned favoritism.
I ask that you take immediate action to defund this initiative or introduce legislation to prevent the Anti-Weaponization Fund from being used in this manner. Please let me know what specific steps you plan to take to address this critical issue.
