The financial disclosures released by the Office of Government Ethics demand a serious congressional investigation. President Trump earned over $1.1 billion from crypto ventures alone — more than $500 million through World Liberty Financial's governance tokens and over $600 million from Trump-branded meme coins launched days before his inauguration. These aren't passive investments. They are products he actively sold to the public, products that have since collapsed in value while he pocketed the proceeds.
The conflict of interest problem goes beyond crypto. Countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE — all simultaneously negotiating with the United States over tariffs and military aid — paid millions into Trump's real estate portfolio during this same period. Qatar's royal family also gifted a new Air Force One. The White House calling this arrangement acceptable is not a defense; it's the problem.
Congress has both the authority and the obligation to investigate this. I want you to open formal hearings, subpoena relevant financial records, and pursue accountability under existing ethics law. The 1978 disclosure requirement exists precisely for moments like this one.
