Merit-based housing programmes will NOT help survivors of human trafficking (both sex AND labour) and labour exploitation. Housing first must be housing first. No initial demands or requirements. No payments required. Programmed housing for all survivors, under the guidance of a social worker to meet goals, with a support system of nutrition support, doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, dentists, and - when the survivor is ready for it - job skills training. Housing for survivors must start where they begin: provide everything for those who have nothing.
