Reject discriminatory transgender bathroom ban in Capitol
To: Rep. Kelly
From: A constituent in Sturgis, MS
November 21
The recently announced ban on transgender individuals using restrooms that correspond with their gender identity in parts of the Capitol is discriminatory and harmful. Transgender Americans deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, not subjected to dehumanizing policies that deny their basic humanity. This ban undermines principles of equality and serves no legitimate purpose. Enforcing such a policy would create an unwelcoming and hostile environment for transgender staffers, interns, and visitors in the halls of Congress. It promotes intolerance rather than fostering an inclusive society where all people can participate fully. Targeting a vulnerable minority group for unfair treatment goes against American values of freedom and justice for all. I urge you to speak out against this discriminatory bathroom ban and work to ensure the Capitol remains an open, welcoming place for all Americans, regardless of gender identity. Protecting the rights and dignity of transgender individuals should be a priority. Please stand up for equal treatment and nondiscrimination protections.
