Bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia Back to the U.S.!

To: Sen. Cruz, Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Castro

From: A constituent in San Antonio, TX

April 14

I am writing to demand immediate action to comply with the Supreme Court’s unanimous ruling requiring the Trump administration to facilitate the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia to the United States. The Court has made clear that the government must take all available steps to bring Mr. Abrego Garcia home after his wrongful deportation, which was admitted to be an “administrative error”. Mr. Abrego Garcia, a long-time Maryland resident and father of three U.S. citizen children, was granted protected status by an immigration judge in 2019, which should have prevented his deportation. Despite this, he was forcibly removed and is now held in a notorious Salvadoran prison, where conditions have been widely condemned as inhumane and torturous. It is deeply un-American and a violation of due process to deport individuals with legal status and subject them to life-threatening conditions abroad. The administration’s continued failure to act, despite clear judicial orders, is a dereliction of duty and an affront to the rule of law. If the Trump administration cannot or will not fulfill its legal and moral obligations to right this wrong, then those responsible should resign. Americans expect their government to uphold the Constitution and protect the rights of all who live under its laws. Bring Kilmar Abrego Garcia home now. Anything less is unacceptable.
