As your constituent, I am stating my opposition to spending another dime more than has already been allocated for ICE. The current debt of the US is $38 trillion. It will be 39 in a week. That is $116,109 per American. $2,170,000,000,000 2.17 trillion or a 6% increase in the last 15 months of the Trump Administration and the 119th Congress. Your former party always touted your “fiscal responsibility”, “limited government” and “family values”; which should stand for working class economic interests. Gas is currently $3.79 down from $4.29 just three days ago, and has been over $3.50 for a month. Inflation is at 3.8% and rising which is higher than it has been since the supply chain disruption after the Covid pandemic in 2022. The median price of a home in North Texas is over $300,000. The current interest rate on a 30 year fixed loan is 6.13%. That is a mortgage payment of $2250 piti. The VA loan calculator estimates one needs to earn $90,000 to $97,500 a year to afford it. The vast majority of Americans are not making that. No, more of our money for ICE. You need to find ways to improve affordability. As was made famous in a campaign in the last century, but in our living memory: “It’s the economy, stupid!” Stop throwing money at ICE and start directing it to help working Americans.
