Please Protect Coyote Creek on Nov 18
To: Asm. Ahrens, Sen. Wahab
From: A verified voter in San Jose, CA
November 17
I am writing to you today as a dedicated constituent and advocate for the preservation of our region's vital open space and agricultural land. I urge you to use the power of your office to address a critical land-use decision currently before the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.
I am strongly opposed to the approval of Agenda Item 48, the Coyote Creek Agrivoltaic Ranch, and ask for your immediate intervention to stop this project and ensure the permanent preservation of the land.
• The Project in Question: Agenda Item 48, listed under Separate Matters for November 18, 2025, is PLNP2021-00191, a request for a Use Permit, Special Development Permit, and Design Review by Sacramento Valley Energy Center, LLC.
• Scale and Location: The project would convert a massive area—approximately 2,704 acres—of land along Scott Road in the sensitive Cosumnes Community into an industrial-scale energy facility.
• Preservation Concern: While branded as "Agrivoltaic," deploying solar panels and associated infrastructure over thousands of acres constitutes a significant and irreversible industrialization of our precious open space and agricultural heritage. This level of development permanently displaces native habitat, strains resources, and fragments the landscape, directly contradicting the goal of wild land preservation.
• My Request: I ask that you publicly oppose the Coyote Creek Agrivoltaic Ranch and advocate for alternative locations that do not require the destruction of this invaluable 2,704-acre tract. Please urge the County to prioritize permanent wild land preservation and responsible, high-density development planning over the mass conversion of rural areas for industrial use.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter that impacts our environment and the future character of the Cosumnes area. I look forward to your affirmative response and action.
