Impeach President Trump for Threatening War Crimes Against Iran

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Liccardo, Sen. Schiff

From: A constituent in Menlo Park, CA

April 7

I am calling on you to immediately begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump for his threats to commit war crimes against Iran. His Tuesday deadline ultimatum and statement that he is "not at all" concerned about committing war crimes demonstrates a clear intent to violate international law. US-Israeli strikes have already killed nearly 3,600 people in Iran, including at least 1,665 civilians and 248 children. Trump has explicitly threatened to target civilian infrastructure like bridges and power plants, which the UN has confirmed violates international law. His warning that "a whole civilization will die tonight" constitutes a threat of genocide. On Monday alone, 49 civilians were killed across 573 attacks. The President's dismissal of war crime concerns and his threat of "Complete and Total Regime Change" through massive attacks on civilian populations represents an abuse of power that demands immediate congressional action. Congress has the constitutional duty to check a president who openly threatens to massacre civilians. Begin impeachment proceedings now before Trump's 8pm Tuesday deadline passes and more innocent people die.
