Oppose vouchers, protect homeschool freedom and parental rights

As advocates for educational freedom, we urge you to oppose Senate Bill 2, the proposed school choice voucher legislation. Texas already provides school choice through homeschooling, public schools, private schools, and charter schools without government overreach or burdensome regulations. Introducing vouchers tied to public funds would inevitably lead to increased oversight and bureaucracy, undermining the very autonomy that has allowed homeschooling to thrive in our state. Vouchers are a Trojan horse that will slowly erode parental rights by forcing families to adhere to state standards and curriculum requirements in exchange for those funds. This is antithetical to the principles of liberty and limited government that Texans cherish. Moreover, diverting taxpayer money away from public schools will exacerbate funding issues, ultimately harming the vast majority of students. We implore you to reject this misguided bill and trust parents to make the best educational choices for their children without government interference or financial coercion through vouchers. Protecting homeschool freedom and parental rights must remain a top priority. Texas families have long thrived with genuine school choice - let us keep it that way through prudent legislative action.
