Subject: The Impact of Roe v. Wade Reversal on Women’s Health and Medical Professionals The decision to overturn *Roe v. Wade*, enabled by the Trump administration's Supreme Court appointments, has led to devastating consequences for women across the country. Many have lost access to safe, legal abortions, forcing them to seek dangerous alternatives or carry pregnancies that put their health at risk. In states with strict abortion bans, women suffering from ectopic pregnancies, miscarriages, or other life-threatening complications have been left without timely medical care, resulting in preventable deaths. The fallout of this decision is felt most acutely by marginalized communities, who already face significant barriers to healthcare. In addition to legal hurdles, women are also facing a wave of misogynistic rhetoric from politicians who reduce the need for abortion to "irresponsibility" on the part of women. The narrative that all abortions stem from women "not keeping their skirts down" ignores the complex realities of reproductive health, from failed contraception to sexual assault and life-threatening pregnancies. This harmful mindset shames women, erodes their bodily autonomy, and minimizes the difficult decisions they must make for their health and well-being. Such ignorance only deepens the stigma and leaves women to suffer, while it fuels policies that disregard their most basic rights. Medical professionals are now facing unimaginable ethical and legal dilemmas as a result of these changes. Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers are torn between their duty to save lives and the risk of criminal prosecution in states with severe abortion restrictions. The ambiguity of these laws has created a climate of fear and uncertainty within hospitals, leaving healthcare providers unsure of what treatments they can legally administer, even when patients’ lives are at stake. This hesitation, driven by legal concerns rather than medical necessity, is directly contributing to further loss of life. We must demand urgent legal reform to protect both women and the medical professionals tasked with their care.
