Well, here we are again. The mask is finally, fully off. The federal government is only good for WAR. We cannot help the people by helping them raise their children, or help them pay for healthcare. The states should pay to raise the children so Trump and company can spend their blood in our forever wars, fueled by the 19th century's favorite energy source, fossil fuel, and the 21st century's favorite boondoggle, AI. Trump has told the American people, the only value you have is to die in my service. This is psychopathic. Democrats should be in congress until Mike Johnson comes back, holding hearings and press conferences. With Trump throwing senior cabinet members under the bus, this would also be a great time to look for republican allies for impeachment. Let's for the moment put aside this nightmare vision of the future. Let's talk about how the democrats (currently everyone's least despised political party...yay?) can offer a different vision. Instead of replacing workers with AI, treat the people of this country as the valuable, under-utilized resource they are. We need bold leaders that will take a pronouncement like this from Trump, and turn it around: - No more wars of choice - We care about our people, Healthcare is a human right, and it should be free - We care about parents and children, Daycare should be free - We care about the future, education should be free - We care about Governance. Politics should be free...of Dark Money. Tax wealth, not wages, fund these initiatives. Billionaires have proven to be terrible stewards of the power they have looted. Give this healthy, educated populace meaningful work, if none is available, with a WPA style work program. Fix the grid, fix the bridges. String solar and wind across the country, and make electricity too cheap to meter. Pay scientists to work on cures for diseases big pharma can't monetize, and put them in the public domain. Build biofactories in communities to make these medications easily available, without disruptions for profit motives. Create more doctors and nurses, professionals both! Pay them well, and pay them to heal people, not fill out insurance forms. The people that seize this message can dominate our political discourse for decades. Or, fight forever wars in a mad-max hellscape of a ruined planet. I know which one I'd vote for.
