I am writing to express my profound disappointment and anger regarding your votes against Senator Bernie Sanders’ resolutions to block arms sales to Israel on July 30-31, 2025. As your constituent, I am deeply troubled that you chose to oppose these critical measures. Your decision to vote “no” on blocking the sale of tens of thousands of assault rifles and $675 million in bombs to Israel is morally unconscionable given the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. With over 60,000 Palestinians killed, including thousands of children facing starvation, how can you justify continuing to provide offensive weapons that devastate civilians? This vote was historic - for the first time, a majority of Senate Democrats (27 out of 44) voted to block these weapons transfers, recognizing the moral imperative to stop fueling this crisis. Yet you both chose to align with the Republican majority rather than with your own Democratic caucus and the growing number of Americans who oppose unconditional military aid to Israel. The hypocrisy is staggering. You signed a letter calling for “large-scale expansion of humanitarian assistance” to Gaza while simultaneously voting to provide more weapons that exacerbate the humanitarian crisis. Your votes enable continued starvation and killing of innocent civilians. As my representatives, you have failed to represent the values of justice and human rights I expect from my elected officials. Moving forward, I demand you: 1. Vote YES on future resolutions to block arms sales to Israel until there is a permanent ceasefire 1. Publicly acknowledge your vote was wrong and commit to changing course 1. Pressure the Netanyahu government to allow full humanitarian access to Gaza Your votes will not be forgotten. I expect a detailed response explaining your rationale and your plans moving forward.
