I am writing as a concerned constituent to strongly condemn the actions and practices currently being carried out by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). What we are seeing— ICE murdering people, families separated, people detained without due process, and communities living in fear—is unacceptable and does not reflect the values I expect my elected officials to defend.
I urge you to oppose and refuse to sign any bill or measure that provides ICE with additional funding, expanded authority, or increased leverage. More money and power for an agency that continues to operate without sufficient accountability will only deepen the harm already being done.
We need policies that prioritize human rights, due process, transparency, and humane immigration reform—not the expansion of enforcement tactics that disproportionately hurt vulnerable communities while failing to address root causes. I ask that you support reforms that ensure due process, protect human rights, and create transparent mechanisms to investigate and hold law enforcement accountable when deadly force is used unjustly.
