Trick or (and) Treat is not for government. Republicans need to return to work.

To: Sen. Merkley, Rep. Salinas, Sen. Wyden

From: A constituent in Wilsonville, OR

October 31

Happy Halloween! While the kids get ready to dress up tonight, trying to be cute or funny or scary, we already know the winner of the costume contest. It's the Republicans who aren't doing their jobs. This is definitely not cute, but it's more clownish than anything the kids could do. And its effects on American citizens - the people those Republicans swore to serve - are terrifying beyond any Halloween costume or haunted house setup. An animatronic skeleton grabbing people who pass by is bad enough - but grabbing and tearing away health care subsidies that keep people alive is worse. Allowing this administration to not pay SNAP benefits from an existing contingency fund meant for that purpose is worse. The Republicans who aren't even trying to work toward a solution right now are grabbing the treat of their salary and running away. That's funny in a two-year-old at an unattended candy bowl. It's unacceptable in lawmakers. It is long past time to get back to work.
