Support The ICE and CBP Constitutional Accountability Act

To: Sen. Padilla, Rep. Liccardo, Sen. Schiff

From: A verified voter in Saratoga, CA

March 17

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to support and co-sponsor The ICE and CBP Constitutional Accountability Act, recently introduced. The lawless and slipshod actions of Immigration enforcement agencies have proven beyond reasonable doubt that these agencies have been operating with insufficient oversight for too long. As I read it, this legislation would establish meaningful accountability mechanisms for ICE and CBP, ensuring these agencies respect constitutional rights while carrying out their duties. No federal agency should be exempt from the checks and balances that protect Americans and people on our soil from government overreach. The current system allows abuses to go unchecked. Innocent people have died. Innocent people have been unlawfully arrested, even deported. This bill would create transparency requirements and consequences for violations, which strengthens rather than weakens legitimate enforcement. Constitutional policing makes us all safer and adheres to a system of justice that was designed to be fair. I urge your support for this bill as this would demonstrate a commitment to the rule of law that applies to everyone, including those tasked with enforcing it. Thank you.
