Save our healthcare! Listen, I heard Senator Thune say that the best way to get health insurance is to get a job. This is so incredibly tone deaf and ignorant that I am embarrassed for him. I work dang hard! I am a caregiver that works over 80 hours/ week caring for my disabled father. He is on Medicare and I get my health insurance through the ACA Marketplace. It is expensive! I pay $650.00/ month for my health and dental. I pay an extra $200/ month for my son’s health and dental plan. Obviously this kind of job doesn’t come with healthcare. Many jobs do not come with healthcare benefits. Some people work several part time jobs because companies won’t offer full-time work because they don’t want to offer benefits. Other jobs like farming, field work, small business owners/ employees, freelancers, etc do not come with benefits. We need the ACA and the Marketplace (Obamacare) healthcare insurance and we need to the tax credits that have traditionally been passed because the more people that have affordable healthcare insurance, the better! It costs this country much more to have people who can’t afford healthcare until it becomes an emergency.
