We, the people of this nation, are outraged and ashamed. This is not a polite request—it is a demand. The detention facility known as “Alligator Alcatraz” is a moral disgrace and a human rights violation. It must be shut down immediately.
This is not a partisan issue. It is a matter of basic human decency. Reports from the facility reveal barbaric conditions. One detainee wrote:
“I haven’t showered for four days, there’s no water, no toothpaste. They don’t let you out. We’re in a cage of metal bars with lights on 24 hours a day. The mosquitoes seem like elephants.”
These are not criminals or combatants. They are human beings. And they are being neglected, dehumanized, and imprisoned on American soil—with taxpayer dollars.
Let us be clear: you were elected to serve the people, not to enable private contractors, cruelty, or xenophobia. We demand immediate action. If you fail to act, you are not leaders—you are complicit. History will judge those who stayed silent.
We also demand full transparency. Families have the right to know where their loved ones are. The public has a right to know who is being detained and why. Secretive detentions and hidden transfers have no place in a democracy.
We demand:
• Immediate closure of Alligator Alcatraz
• Safe relocation and humane treatment of all detainees
• A public investigation into the facility and its operators
• Legislation banning the use of such camps for immigrant detention
• Full transparency regarding detainees’ identities and locations
This is a test of your integrity and your worthiness to hold office. We are watching. And we are done asking nicely.
Represent us—or make way for someone who will.
