I write with deep concern about the unfolding crisis in Sudan, where the death toll may now exceed that of Gaza, according to recent reporting. Front-line experts warn that the scale of violence, starvation and mass atrocity in places like El Fasher is catastrophic and under-reported.
Congress must act now. I urge you to use U.S. diplomatic and policy tools to demand an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Sudan, establish protected corridors for food, medicine and relief, and pursue accountability for those responsible for mass civilian harm. The United States has a moral duty to ensure that our foreign assistance does not enable large-scale atrocity or impunity.
In doing so, you send a clear message: we will not stand silent in the face of mass killing, nor will we ignore the suffering of civilians because it happens out of the headlines. Please raise Sudan’s crisis urgently in all legislative and foreign policy forums, press for maximum humanitarian aid access, and ensure our government aligns with the highest standards of international human rights and humanitarian law.
