I am writing to urge you to immediately reject any push toward U.S. military action against Venezuela. This would be a profound mistake for the United States and for your own political standing. A U.S. strike on Venezuelan territory—or attacks on ships in the region—would violate international law, destabilize the entire Western Hemisphere, and force the United States into yet another costly conflict with no clear objective or exit strategy. Venezuela is already facing a humanitarian crisis. Military force would create a refugee surge, economic shocks, and long-term regional instability that would inevitably fall on the U.S. to manage. Politically, this would be disastrous for you. Americans are overwhelmingly tired of war. After decades of failed interventions, sending the U.S. into another conflict—especially one without clear justification—would alienate independents, fracture parts of your own base, and hand your opponents a straightforward argument: that you dragged the country into an unnecessary foreign war. No one wins politically from a conflict in Venezuela—not even the administration that orders it. Additionally, using drug policy as a pretext does not hold up to scrutiny. The claim that fentanyl production in Venezuela justifies military action is simply not factual, and pursuing a war on the basis of disproven narratives will undermine U.S. credibility and your own. If the United States were truly committed to consistent drug enforcement, recent high-profile pardons of major traffickers would not have been issued. This inconsistency will be noticed globally and politically. The United States gains nothing from starting a conflict in Venezuela. It would damage our international standing, strain our economy, imperil regional relationships, and create long-term consequences that no administration can control once set in motion. You have nothing to gain from this war—and the United States has everything to lose. I strongly urge you to reject any military action against Venezuela and pursue a course that protects U.S. interests, stability, and global credibility.
