Demand for Impeachment Proceedings Based on Emoluments Clause Violation

To: Sen. Cotton, Sen. Boozman, Rep. Womack

From: A constituent in Bentonville, AR

May 11

I am urging you to immediately investigate and take action on a matter of grave constitutional importance. Reports indicate that President Donald Trump has accepted a private jet from a member of the Qatari royal family, and that U.S. taxpayer dollars are being spent to retrofit this aircraft for his personal use. This is a direct violation of the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the United States Constitution (Article I, Section 9, Clause 8), which explicitly states: “No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under [the United States], shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept… any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.” No gift of this magnitude can be dismissed as ceremonial or harmless—especially when public funds are being used to prepare it for the president’s benefit. If true, this constitutes an abuse of office, an invitation to foreign influence, and a betrayal of the Constitution. I ask that you: • Publicly demand full transparency and documentation on this jet arrangement; • Investigate all taxpayer spending connected to this aircraft; and • File or support Articles of Impeachment if these facts are confirmed. Please remember: Your oath is to the Constitution—not to a party, not to a person, but to the people and principles you serve.
