I am writing as your constituent to urge you to act on reports that Patriot interceptor missiles already paid for by U.S. allies are being held up at the Pentagon.
Ukraine's President Zelenskyy told a bipartisan group of senators and representatives on October 19 that these missiles are ready and could already be in Ukraine. Ukrainian officials say Defense Secretary Hegseth has not signed off on the contracts. The missiles were funded by NATO allies through the PURL program. Secretary Rubio has said it "could be accurate" that a batch has not been delivered. The Pentagon says its policy is unchanged, and a U.S. official has called the Ukrainian claims untrue. Americans deserve a clear answer.
I ask that you:
1 Demand in writing that the Department of Defense explain the status of every PURL-funded Patriot shipment and release any that are being delayed, immediately.
2 Call for Senate oversight hearings with testimony from Secretary Hegseth.
3 Publicly state whether you support delivering these interceptors without further delay.
Our allies paid for this equipment in good faith. If the U.S. holds it back, it damages our credibility with every partner we ask to share the burden. I expect my government to keep its commitments, and I expect my senators to hold the executive branch to account.
Please reply with the actions you are taking.
