An Open Letter

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Kaptur

From: A verified voter in Clyde, OH

December 13

I hope this message finds you well. As a concerned constituent, I am writing to express my strong opposition to several legislative proposals that could significantly impact our online freedoms and privacy. Firstly, I urge you to reject the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). While well-intentioned, I believe it poses risks to free speech and could create unnecessary barriers to accessing information for young people. We should seek solutions that empower rather than restrict valuable online interactions. Secondly, I strongly advocate for the preservation of Section 230. This essential law allows for a vibrant online ecosystem by protecting platforms from liability for user-generated content. Repealing or amending Section 230 could stifle innovation, harm free expression, and lead to excessive censorship. Additionally, I oppose any legislation that introduces mandatory online digital identification laws. Such requirements would infringe upon personal privacy and increase the risks related to data breaches and misuse of sensitive information. Lastly, I ask that you do not support age verification laws. These measures are often ineffective and could restrict access to information and resources for all users. Thank you for your attention to these critical issues. I trust that you will represent the interests and rights of your constituents by standing against these proposals.
