Investigate the Trump administration's mass cancellation of corporate enforcement actions and push to restore them. Public Citizen has documented 212 canceled actions against 205 corporations, including 10 closed criminal investigations, 10 dismissed criminal lawsuits, and 14 pardons of corporations and executives. Banks, tech companies, and crypto firms are the biggest beneficiaries. This is not routine policy adjustment. This is the federal government walking away from active prosecutions.
As Public Citizen's Rick Claypool put it, the message to Big Business is clear: if you're big enough, rich enough, and connected enough, there are no consequences for breaking the law. We're already seeing the results in reckless AI experiments, financial fraud, and tainted food outbreaks. No administration should have the power to simply erase accountability for corporate lawbreaking on this scale. I expect my elected officials to say so loudly and act accordingly.
