An Open Letter

To: Sen. Schmitt, Rep. Bell, Sen. Hawley

From: A verified voter in Saint Louis, MO

May 4

As a Missouri resident with 2 sons set to graduate from public high school in the next 4 years, I am writing to express my grave concern about the major changes the Trump administration and GOP and pushing through the legislature. I have high hopes that my children and their peers will have the same opportunities to pursue higher education as the past few generations have had. The significant changes proposed to the student loan and grant structure will have a catastrophic effect on my kids and their friends’ ability to attend college. Rather than push these changes through quickly through the appropriations process, I call on you to demand that all proposed changes be brought to the open and debated and voted on by roll call vote. If voters are given a chance to see what their elected representatives are doing to destroy their children’s’ futures, the final votes might look a lot different. Thank you.
