Vote NO on the spending bill

To: Rep. Langworthy

From: A constituent in Waverly, NY

July 2

Senate Republicans have passed a massive tax and spending bill that threatens to undermine rural healthcare across the country. The bill makes harmful cuts to Medicaid that could leave millions without coverage, including many in rural areas that already face healthcare provider shortages and hospital closures. While the legislation includes $50 billion to support rural hospitals over 5 years starting in 2026, this temporary fund is grossly insufficient to offset the bill's drastic Medicaid cuts that will make it impossible for millions to access care— including many in your district. Rural communities cannot afford to lose access to quality, affordable healthcare. Things patients survive easily now will become death sentences - access to rehab for necessary IV antibiotics, or high cost medications proven to extend lives, care for heart attacks or strokes, and importantly, access to prevention care - things many already have trouble with will become exponentially worse for millions who lose Medicaid. You MUST vote No. The House must reject this reckless legislation that jeopardizes the well-being of rural Americans in favor of tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations. Safeguard and strengthen rural healthcare instead of undermining it through draconian cuts to Medicaid and safety net programs. The health and lives of rural residents depend on keeping these vital services intact and available in the communities of your district. I am your constituent. Be brave and vote NO.
