An Open Letter

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A constituent in Plattsburg, MO

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, “Eighty-six is slang meaning "to throw out," "to get rid of," or "to refuse service to." It comes from 1930s soda-counter slang meaning that an item was sold out. There is varying anecdotal evidence about why the term eighty-six was used, but the most common theory is that it is rhyming slang for nix.” Your fixation on 8647 and prosecution of a citizen who posted this demonstrates your unseriousness to your position. In case you haven’t noticed, tens of millions of people now need to be prosecuted under that standard. And don’t forget all the 8646 postings, many by your colleagues, let’s get them in the mix. Your Senate leader has said he found NO evidence that the term meant anything violent. Why can’t you speak out and say the same? Why do you perform as a doormat instead of speaking up to simply confirm what the dictionary says? And what most of us know to be common f----ing sense? Time for reality check. Oh – don’t forget the Epstein files – that is a LAW YOU PASSED being broken every day. Another demonstration of your doormat position – lay flat and let your administration walk and wipe their dirty law-breaking feet on you.
