It is Congress who is empowered under our Constitution to declare war. The attacks on boats off the coast of Venezuela and now in the Pacific are illegal and not justified. There is no evidence that they were carrying drugs, the pretext for these attacks, and even if so they could have been stopped by the Coast Guard and arrested as is the usual procedure. Instead, Trump and Hegseth have issued orders to murder the people on these boats. If this country ever returns to following laws and the Constitution I fear that it won’t be Trump and Hegseth who will pay the price but the rank and file military personnel who carried out these murders. This is all around bad. Stop the murders! Insist that the administration follow the law.
