Follow up on townhall

I attended your virtual town hall last night and I was extremely discouraged by some of your statements. I found your response to the question about the SAVE act to be dismissive and inaccurate. Additionally, you made a comment that I have not been able to stop thinking about since I heard it. You said that Medicaid should never be a permanent solution. I work with people with significant disabilities and ALL of them are on Medicaid. ALL of them will need some type of health insurance provided outside of employment for the rest of their lives. Without it they will not only not get the services they need to be happy and healthy, but also some may be more likely to have profound negative consequences like incarceration, serious illness or injury, and/or death. I feel like based on your commentary regarding Medicaid you either don’t understand that or don’t care and both those options are incredibly alarming. I don’t think your neighbors in Charlotte, of which I have worked with many regarding their Medicaid services for their autistic kids, will be huge fans of you when their kids end up in jail or dead because you didn’t understand the ramifications of these cuts. It’s cool that you were in the military, but it’s time to expand your understanding of every thing else you’re making decisions on.
Also as an aside, it’s not that shocking that there are more VA workers than the entire US army bc the VA covers all branches of military and I don’t know about you, but my care team has more than just one person on it and I’m sure many administrators ensuring I get the care I need. Volume in an of itself is not the wow factor you think it is.
