The President of the United States just called America a “stupid country” because the Constitution won’t let him do whatever he wants. That demands your public response.
After attending Supreme Court arguments on his executive order to eliminate birthright citizenship, Donald Trump went straight to Truth Social and posted: “We are the only Country in the World STUPID enough to allow ‘Birthright’ Citizenship!” The contempt in those words is not aimed at immigrants. It is aimed at the United States Constitution and every American who believes in it.
His outrage is also built on a lie. According to the Pew Research Center, 32 other countries have laws similar to the U.S. guaranteeing citizenship to children born in the country. The President couldn’t be bothered to verify a basic fact before attacking the nation he leads.
Even Trump’s own Supreme Court appointees appeared skeptical of his arguments, with Chief Justice John Roberts openly questioning the administration’s legal reasoning. Rather than respect that process, Trump attacked the Court directly, writing that they “failed miserably” and demanding they use “common sense” to rule in his favor.
This is a president who calls America stupid when the law restrains him, attacks judges who rule against him, and treats the Constitution as an obstacle rather than the foundation of our democracy. That is not frustration. That is contempt for the rule of law itself.
I am asking you to stand up publicly and say so. Your constituents are watching, and we will remember who had the courage to speak and who stayed silent.
