Vote NO on H.R. 5304 - Protect Essential HIV/AIDS Funding
To: Rep. Huizenga
From: A constituent in Kalamazoo, MI
December 10
I am writing to you as a constituent to strongly urge you to oppose the House Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education appropriations bill (H.R. 5304). This legislation proposes catastrophic cuts to federal HIV programs that would devastate our public health infrastructure and reverse decades of bipartis an progress in ending the HIV epidemic. Specifically, I am alarmed that H.R. 5304: Eliminates HIV prevention funding at the CDC: Removing this funding effectively dismantles our primary defense against new infections. Cuts the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program: This program is a lifeline for low-income people living with HIV, providing essential medical care and support services. Cuts the Minority AIDS Initiative: These cuts disproportionately target the communities most impacted by the epidemic, deepening health inequities. We cannot afford to retreat now. These programs are life-saving, and weakening them would set our national response back by decades. Instead, I ask that you support funding levels similar to the Senate version (S. 2587), which maintains level funding for most federal HIV programs and a voids these harmful policy riders. Please protect the health of your constituents and vote against H.R. 5304.
