An Open Letter

To: Sen. Whitehouse, Sen. Reed

From: A constituent in Providence, RI

December 16

Today you voted to pass S 1071. Sec. 559A defines sex in a way that biologists would disagree with and, in fact, does not account for the existence of intersex people at all. You have told transgender women that they cannot proudly serve their country and told intersex people that they don't exist at all. I do not believe that you understand biology well enough to define it. I also do not believe that you honor the LGBTQIA community of Rhode Island, nominally one of the best states in the country for protection of gender diversity. I will not be voting for you in the next election. Good day.
