Dear EVERYONE n Congress and the president’s office: I’m Melissa from Prosperity, South Carolina, and I’ve got an idea for a National Legion Line. Think of it like a pound cake, so we’d call it Pound Eleven. It’d be a peer support line where people can call #11 and just talk to each other, like I’m talking to you now. , no tape, just humans connecting across the world. Someone in Russia could pick up and talk to someone here, and maybe we’d understand each other because we’re mirroring each other. Like grandpa used to go to American Legion and Shriners to sit and have dinner with other folks. That’s the way nowadays n feelings people need n want. A place where people aren’t alone, where a mother who feels like a cow can talk to another mother, where a calf in the wilderness can find someone to answer. You all talk about helping people, so here’s a way to do it that’s actually putting talks into humane action. If we had this, maybe more than 23 million people more would call in a day compared to the “988” a nation hotline because they’d finally have someone to talk to n trust which is public people not getting paid to talk. Please consider it. We’re people asking for a way to for people to be there for one another.
