Protect Mail-In Voting — Block Trump's Unconstitutional Election Order

To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Joyce

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

August 24

Take action now to protect mail-in voting before the midterms. Trump's executive order restricting absentee ballots is a direct assault on the constitutional authority of state legislatures and Congress to set federal election rules — not the president. Judge Talwani's June ruling said exactly that, and she was right. The justification for this order is a lie. Research has found noncitizen voting to be infinitesimally rare, yet the administration is using that phantom threat to restrict ballot access for millions of eligible voters weeks before an election. Trump himself voted by mail this year. This was never about election integrity — it's about controlling who gets to vote. Three Supreme Court justices dissented for good reason. Justice Jackson called this order "blatantly unconstitutional" and warned the ruling "needlessly injects chaos and uncertainty into the upcoming midterm elections." That chaos is here. Fight it. Use every legislative and legal tool available to block implementation of this order and defend the voting rights of your constituents.
