It is deeply concerning that Donald Trump has appointed Dan Bongino, a conservative podcaster with no FBI experience, as Deputy FBI Director. This appointment, coupled with FBI Director Kash Patel's plans to relocate 1,500 FBI employees, raises alarming questions about the administration's intent to politicize the FBI. The FBI's mission is to protect Americans through lawful enforcement, not serve as an arm of the White House focused on punishing critics. Congress has an oversight role and must immediately call investigative hearings to hold Patel and Bongino accountable. There needs to be transparency around their plans for restructuring the agency. Installing Trump loyalists threatens the FBI's integrity and its constitutionally-mandated independence from partisan politics. The American people deserve assurances that the FBI will continue fulfilling its critical law enforcement duties without interference. I urge you to take immediate action demanding these oversight hearings to preserve the FBI's crucial work safeguarding our nation.
