Why Are You Silent While a Dangerous, Unfit President Leads Us Toward War?
To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt
From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO
March 16
I am writing to ask a direct question that many of your constituents are asking: why are you not speaking out about Donald Trump’s apparent cognitive decline and the danger it poses to this country?
Across the country people are watching what appears to be a president in serious mental decline continue to make reckless decisions that could drag the United States into a dangerous war that the American people do not want. When the commander-in-chief shows clear signs of confusion, instability, or impaired judgment, it is not a partisan issue—it is a national security issue.
Congress has a constitutional duty to provide oversight of the executive branch. Yet many members of Congress, including yourself, remain publicly silent while these concerns grow louder every day.
At the same time, serious questions continue to surround the corruption and self-dealing involving Trump and members of his family. These allegations deserve investigation, transparency, and accountability. Ignoring them only erodes public trust further.
Your job is not to protect a political figure or a party. Your job is to protect the country and represent your constituents.
So I am asking you plainly:
• Why are you not demanding a full and transparent evaluation of the president’s fitness for office?
• Why are you not calling for investigations into the ongoing corruption surrounding the Trump family?
• Why are you allowing the country to move closer to conflict without speaking out?
Silence from elected officials in moments like this is not leadership—it is complicity.
If members of Congress continue to ignore these issues, voters will remember. The American people are watching, and the consequences will show up at the ballot box in the midterm elections.
We expect courage, accountability, and action from those we elect. Right now, that leadership is nowhere to be found.
