Investigate Trump Sons' Drone Company Profiting From Iran War

To: Sen. Van Hollen, Sen. Alsobrooks, Rep. Elfreth

April 16

I need you to launch an immediate investigation into Powerus, the drone company backed by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. The facts demand scrutiny: President Trump launched strikes against Iran that started the current war, and now his sons stand to profit by selling drone interceptors to Gulf countries threatened by that same conflict. Powerus co-founder Brett Velicovich confirmed the company is conducting demonstrations across the Middle East right now to sell defensive systems to countries dependent on U.S. military protection. The Trump brothers secured equity stakes in Powerus after their father took office, and the company just raised $60 million while positioning itself to access $1.1 billion in Pentagon funding for drone manufacturing. Richard Painter, former chief White House ethics lawyer under President George W. Bush, called this exactly what it appears to be: "These countries are under enormous pressure to buy from the sons of the president so he will do what they want." No American president's family should profit from a war he started without congressional approval. This goes beyond typical conflicts of interest. If the Trump sons are cashing in on their father's military decisions, there must be consequences. Americans deserve answers about whether foreign policy is being shaped by family business interests.
