Expand the Supreme Court to Protect Voting Rights

To: Sen. Padilla, Sen. Schiff, Rep. Chu

From: A verified voter in Pasadena, CA

September 26

Expand the Supreme Court now. The justices just handed the Trump administration a tool to purge eligible voters from the rolls, and the only way to stop this court from dismantling democracy piece by piece is to add seats. The SAVE database has already falsely flagged at least 87 Texans as noncitizens. The system's own chief of verification admitted it can't always source current citizenship data. A federal judge called this a knowing trampling of privacy rights that "threatens the sacred right to vote." The Supreme Court overruled her anyway, citing election fraud claims that have been thoroughly debunked. This isn't judicial independence — it's partisan cover for voter suppression. A court willing to revive a broken, privacy-violating database to reshape the electorate before the 2026 midterms cannot be trusted to protect the franchise. Expanding the court is not a radical move. It is the appropriate democratic response to a judiciary that has become an instrument of disenfranchisement. I need you to introduce or co-sponsor legislation to add seats to the Supreme Court before this goes any further.
