Urgent need for systemic reforms to curb oligarchic control
To: Sen. Slotkin
From: A constituent in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI
April 29, 2025
The American people clearly understand the reality of wealth inequality and corporate dominance over our political system. When the top 1% owns more wealth than the bottom 90%, and big money interests control both parties, we are living in an oligarchy - not a true democracy. Senator Slotkin's dismissal of this widely-recognized problem only underscores how out of touch some elected leaders are with the struggles facing working Americans. Her comments also disregard the will of the people, who are turning out in massive numbers to rallies calling for systemic reforms to curb oligarchic control and put power back in the hands of the people. We cannot allow the perpetuation of a system rigged for the ultra-wealthy at the expense of the vast majority. Real solutions are needed to build an equitable, democratic society that uplifts all people over corporate profits. This is the fight millions have joined, despite efforts to downplay this critical issue.
