I am urging you not to pass the FY 2025 Budget Resolution put forth by the House Budget Committee. The proposed budget blueprint aims to drastically cut spending on crucial programs that support Americans' well-being, such as healthcare, education, and social safety nets. Instead of prioritizing the needs of the people, this budget favors tax cuts for the wealthy and corporations, further exacerbating income inequality. The Committee's own analysis reveals that this budget would increase the deficit by $3.8 trillion over the next decade, adding to the already staggering national debt. Such fiscal irresponsibility jeopardizes our country's long-term economic stability and burdens future generations with unsustainable debt levels. Rather than pursuing draconian cuts that harm vulnerable communities, we should seek a balanced approach that promotes economic growth, invests in our future, and ensures a strong social safety net. A responsible budget should prioritize the well-being of all Americans, not just the privileged few. I urge you to reject this misguided budget resolution and instead work towards a fiscally responsible plan that upholds our values of compassion, equity, and shared prosperity.
