I am writing to urge you in the strongest possible terms to restore full funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. These programs are not partisan luxuries — they are lifelines for millions of Americans who rely on them to feed their families, keep children healthy, and prevent hunger in one of the wealthiest nations on Earth. Cuts or delays in these essential services translate directly into empty plates, malnourished children, and struggling parents forced to make impossible choices. This is not just a policy issue — it is a moral one. I also strongly encourage you to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits, which have helped millions of Americans afford health coverage. Allowing these credits to expire will only deepen the crisis of medical debt and push countless families out of the health care system entirely. Frankly, I am deeply concerned and disheartened by the growing sense that our government has lost sight of its fundamental duty — to serve the people. When political conflict and partisan gridlock threaten programs that keep Americans fed, housed, and healthy, it feels as though ordinary citizens are being held hostage to disagreements in Washington. When did we stop being a country that takes care of its own? When did compassion and practicality become political bargaining chips? Senator, I urge you to put the needs of the people ahead of party lines. Restore funding for SNAP and WIC, protect and extend ACA tax credits, and demonstrate that our government still values the lives and dignity of the people it represents.
