Congress needs to launch a full investigation into DHS's no-bid contracting abuses and claw back every dollar the government overpaid. Buildings purchased well above market value, then sold for far less. Detention center contracts handed out without competitive bidding. And airplanes purchased through no-bid deals that bypassed any competitive process, with no public accountability for what taxpayers actually paid. Hundreds of millions funneled to private companies while Congress cut Medicaid and food stamps, calling them wasteful.
This is a pattern, not an anomaly. Real people lost healthcare and food assistance so contractors could pocket sweetheart deals on jets, buildings, and detention facilities. That money belongs to the public, not to well-connected vendors.
Hold hearings, subpoena the contracts, and pursue every legal avenue to recover what was overpaid. The American public deserves to know exactly who authorized these deals, who profited, and why competitive bidding was bypassed every time.
