I am writing as a constituent from Marshall County to express my opposition to the proposed spending on a new ballroom. At a time when families are carefully managing their budgets and our state faces real financial priorities, this kind of project feels unnecessary and out of touch.
For years, Republicans have rightfully emphasized fiscal responsibility, limited government, and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars. That is a principle I strongly support. However, funding an expensive ballroom—something that few, if any, constituents have asked for—seems inconsistent with those values. It is difficult to reconcile calls for restraint in public spending with the decision to pursue what appears to be a luxury project.
This is not about opposing development or investment altogether. It is about prioritization. Our tax dollars should go toward infrastructure, education, public safety, and other essential services that directly impact the daily lives of citizens—not toward facilities that serve a narrow purpose and lack broad public demand.
I urge you to stand by the principle of fiscal responsibility and oppose this expenditure. Doing so would demonstrate a commitment to the values you have championed and to the priorities of the people you represent.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to seeing your leadership on this issue.
